In collaboration with Sunset Records Store.

Record Store Day Malta

For Record Store Day, Fred Perry Malta teamed up with Sunset Records Malta. Ahead of the RSD, we met with the owner, Brian, and asked him a couple of questions....

Where are you from? From Denmark originally, now sunny Malta

What do you do? I run Sunset Records in Sliema, which is a vinyl record shop opened almost 2 years ago. At the shop I have a selection of different genres but it's more specialised in electronic music, house, techno, disco and balearic. I also have the brilliant Records Magazine and other music related books and some bags and t-shirts from Airbag Craftworks.

Playlist:  A song from your favourite album? Tough one, but will have to go with “As” from Stevie Wonders “Songs In The Key Of Life”. I heard David Mancuso play this classic at one of his Loft parties in London, and seeing 300 people dancing with their hands in the air singing along to this, it all makes sense! It is just a beautiful song !

What is the last piece of music you bought? It is the reissue of Suzanne Menzel “Goodbyes And Beginnings”. A Danish synth record from the early 1980’s.. Do yourself a favour and check it out!

What new music/bands are you listening to? Right now I am listening a lot to Planty Herbs new album “Come Into Knowlegde”. It’s a great mixture of downtempo electronica, hiphop and chilled house.

Join us for Record Store Day on the 21st of April. Those shopping from Sunset Records Store Malta, and the Fred Perry stores, will receive a special edition tote bag designed for the Record Store Day!
